A small and very, very new winery in the village of Delfià, Cellers d’en Guilla (literally, “the fox’s wineries”) is making some interesting new wines that are very true and honest to the grapes in Alt Empordà. Their main release to date has been the Magenc, a white made primarily of White Grenache.

The nose is full of minerality, grapefruit, and a slight citrus aspect. The body carries a great deal of this in to it, but adds in a mild level of acidity as a backdrop. It’s very light in the glass and easy to drink with a mild, quick finish that’s bound to please most anyone. A thoroughly enjoyable example of how delicious White Grenache can be. At 7€, it’s also really well-priced.
