Following up on the just-released Hvar Island Wine Report exploring the state of wine in this corner of Dalmatia, I’ve invited the president of the Hvar Wine Association Ivana Krstulović-Carić for an online chat this Sunday, March 14th at 7PM Barcelona/Hvar Time. It will be the opportunity to whet your palate on Croatian and Hvar wine if you haven’t had the luck to try some of their wines, to exchange views, and ask questions about the past present and future of winemaking on the island and to share an hour talking about everything wonderful in Hvar.
Ivana is not only the co-owner of Vina Carić with her husband, Ivo Carić but she’s one of the biggest promoters of wine in the island outside of its shores, particularly in her role as president of the Hvar Wine Association. For example, she was the one who reached out to me to update my previous reports on the wines of the island and kindly sent me an interesting selection of samples. I’ve also been relying on her help as well to be able to interview the wineries in the association to get me up to speed on all the latest developments, which have been many.
The chat will be streamed on Instagram Live at @mhudin and anyone is invited to join freely. If you’re not familiar with Instagram Live chats, you can watch them via the Instagram app or also from the desktop, but you need to have an account with the service to view them.
You can add commentary and ask questions as we give an overview of the wines, their native grapes, as well as the excellent cuisine and maybe even a bit about lavender if we have time. I encourage everyone not only to join us on Instagram on Sunday but to start thinking about what they’d like to know about these wines.
Hope to see you there!
