La Guia de Vins de Catalunya 2015
The annual presentation for the Guia de Vins de Catalunya happened this past Monday. This book is now in its 7th edition and strives to include as many of the wines of Catalonia as possible and they break down their “best wines” in to several categories:
Best Red – Scala Dei Mas Deu 2011 (DOQ Priorat)
Best Rosé – Cell d’en Guilla Vinya del Metge 2013 (DO Empordà)
Best Cava – Mestres Mas Via 2000 (DO Cava)
Best Sweet – Mas Estela Garnatxa (DO Empordà)
Also tossed in to this was Best Label for Torelló Brut Special Edition as well as the “Territory” prize for the Carles Andreu Trepat 2012. These last two being the most subjective of the lot.
The presentation of the highest scoring wines took place at the disco, Bling Bling in Barcelona (more on this at a later date) and, as is usual every year, was packed with people from around Catalonia looking to taste and try everything. Unlike three years ago, the book was indeed available to buy as well.
