Catalan exports up, wine down. Time to bend tariffs?

The Catalan Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, and Foods (Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació) had their annual round table meeting this week to discuss final figures for 2019. The good news is that exports of agricultural products (food, wines, etc.) from the region are overall very much up; 8.45% up in fact. Catalunya is actually quite a force in the exportation of agricultural products and accounts for over 21% of Spain’s total exports (not bad for only being on 16% of the population) totaling more than 10.5 billion euros in annual revenue! The down side here, is the wine. Wine sadly dropped 11.53% in total exports last year. This isn’t much of a surprise and we’ll probably see more news like this coming from other European countries as it’s largely due to Trumponomics and the concept that tariffs are “brilliance”.
