Understanding the Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2010-2017 vintages via Domaine la Barroche

I seem to have a knack in catching Julien Barrot of Domaine la Barroche at awkward moments whenever I’m in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. When I first profiled their cellar, I stopped by while the whole family was out doing green harvest due to excessive growth in 2014. His sister Leticia (the business yin to Julien’s winemaking yang) showed me around initially. A very bedraggled and sweaty Julien came in at the last moment and was good enough to take me through their recent vintages as we sipped and spat within the cool confines of their old cellar.
