A report on DO Montsant in 2020

Someone possessing a mild gift of foresight would have bought stock in the company, Zoom at the beginning of last December. Someone of even greater foresight would have bought vineyards in what became the DO Montsant region back in 2001 as, nearly two decades later, what was seen initially as the “budget Priorat” by some self-proclaimed “experts”, has been proving for awhile that it has its own, signature style of excellent wines. I say this because today sees the release of the DO Montsant 2020 Tasting Report wherein I’ve tasted nearly 150 wines from this young, yet extremely dynamic region. How dynamic? Well, 2/3 of the wines received a two star (**) or greater score which translates to 90 points or higher.
