Les Freses, Alicante, Spain

This is an interesting project by way of Alicante called, Les Freses in a small area call, Jesús Pobre. Located next to the Montgó mountain, they’re in the far northern reaches of the DO. I discovered in my last report on Alicanted that this is one of the better zones as they have elevation as well as sea influence, but at a distance. The name is a bit ‘interesting’ as while ‘fresa’ is strawberry in Castilian, they’ve spelled it in a Catalan/Valencian manner, when it should actually be ‘les maduixes’. […]
