Château Musar - Jeune Rouge 2016

Dark, inky color. Dark cherry, kirsch, fig, black licorice, violets, wet flowers, potpourri, ripe red fruit compote of wild strawberry at the base, light metallic mineral note of flint. Tight, lightly green tannins on the palate, quite a wallop of acidity, surprising given the overall heavy fruit character on the nose. Long finish and at four years on, still developing despite then “jeune” in the name.
