Taking a step back in to the New World for a minute, we popped open this bottle from Finca La Celia the other night. At around 13€ it represents a decent balance of price and quality.
If you look in to the history of this winery in Mendoza, Argentina, you’ll see that they’ve been around for only about 12 years. This wine being from their 2009 harvest does show a young aspect to the vines that they were working to balance out in the cellar. Overall, they managed to do a good job of it and it has a decent depth, although a reasonably lax degree of acidity making it a tad wobbly for meal pairings, although spicy foods would take well to it. In the Spanish market, there are better values, but if one finds it in the US, it would offer up a good option in a table wine.
