Thank you Cafe Royale!

I’m pretty stoked that my short film I just shot got in to a festival for viewing. This is the first time I’ve had this happen and it’s a big boost because it actually makes me feel that for once I can call myself a filmmaker. Oh yeah, but we don’t really use film anymore, but you get the idear. I hope it will get in to others, but just this is a great start.

I would just like to float out in space my thanks to the owner, Kate Dumbleton at Cafe Royale who let me shoot at her location. Actually, I’ve shot there twice. The first film, “Dying in your Sleep” I shot there in 2004. My latest, “taste” was shot just a couple of weeks ago. It’s a cool location near where I live and Kate’s a super cool girl for putting up with how many times I had to cancel and reschedule due to casting issues.

Kate and her Cafe are very supportive of the arts around the area and every month they have a new art exhibit in the place. Also, toss in the fact she’s got a great wine list and is one of the few places in town that I know of to get sake and soju cocktails. I encourage anyone I know to go there and support her business. It’s a good crowd of locals that show up. So, if you’re looking for a skanky meat market, you ain’t gonna find it, but if you want to meet for a first date or chill with friends, it’s ideal.
