Ivo Andrić on San Francisco

In regards to the weather of San Francisco, Ivo Andrić would have said something along these lines:

It was the season, or rather unseason, which was neither autumn nor winter but worse than either, that freak of the year which can last days, sometimes weeks–days which are as long as the weeks, weeks that seem longer than months.

Naturally, as this is from the beginning of Chapter 7 of Bosnian Chronicle, it describes the town Travnik, where the novel is set, but it might as well be describing the season that is trying to pass itself off as spring currently.
