Green Chai

Company: Tréleela

Review: An interesting take on the chai. While the odd fellow on the front of the box isn't the most inviting way to come in to the tea, it's a tasty drink. Overall, it isn't what I exactly look for in a chai and it definitely requires some cream to be added to it to smooth out all the flavors.
The best thing about it is inhaling the bag before you steep it and while it's being steeped. That aromas that pour off of that are heavenly. Once steeped (and watch it as it doesn't like to sit too long) the body of the tea drops a lot of the aromatic flavors that you get. This might be for the better as how it sits, it's quite a complex blend.
I find that the bottom of the flavors gets a tad sandy for my tastes, but again, when mixed with cream, this levels out a good deal. It's probably something that is good for drinking every once in awhile as opposed to daily.

Pairings: Don't fight the cinnamon and spice flavors in the tea. Have something with raisins in it or a cinnamon bagel. It likes sweet things with it. It might like spicy as well, but it would have to be a sweet spicy, like having the tea after a hot and sour Chinese dish to balance and cleanse the palate.
