Mocha Pu-erh Truffle
Company: Mighty LeafReview: Just the title alone had me very excited to try this one, but once I poured up the cup, I was a bit let down. While there are some great chocolate and mocha tones to the blend, it gets rather muddy in there. Maybe it's also this type of tea, but I found it really hard to pull out crisp flavors like I do with most other black teas. It is definitely deep bodied though and a perfect example of a tea you need to carefully steep. Anything longer than three minutes will probably mean trouble for you and trying to cover up an over-steeping will make for a pretty dour cup. In general, I think this is a tea for those who really like the Pu-erh flavor, which is unfortunately not one of my favorites.
Pairings: You need sweet things with this blend. Really sweet cookies or tarts would go well. Make sure not to hold back on sugar content for foods. Anything subtle will only bring the flavors that I find unappealing.
